The Crystal Shard Prelude Free Essays

The demon sat back on the seat it had carved in the stem of the giant mushroom. Sludge slurped and rolled around the rock island, the eternal oozing and shifting that marked this layer of the Abyss. Errtu drummed its clawed fingers, its horned, apelike head lolling about on its shoulders as it peered into the gloom. We will write a custom essay sample on The Crystal Shard Prelude or any similar topic only for you Order Now â€Å"Where are you, Telshazz?† the demon hissed, expecting news of the relic. Crenshinibon, pervaded all of the demon’s thoughts. With the shard in its grasp, Errtu could rise over an entire layer, maybe even several layers. And Errtu had come so close to possessing it! The demon knew the power of the artifact; Errtu had been serving seven lichs when they combined their evil magics and made the crystal shard. The lichs, undead spirits of powerful wizards that refused to rest when their mortal bodies had passed from the realms of the living, had gathered to create the most vile artifact ever made, an evil that fed and flourished off of that which the purveyors of good considered most precious – the light of the sun. But they had gone beyond even their own considerable powers. The forging actually consumed the seven, Crenshinibon stealing the magical strength that preserved the lichs’ undead state to fuel its own first flickers of life. The ensuing bursts of power had hurtled Errtu back to the Abyss, and the demon had presumed the shard destroyed. But Crenshinibon would not be so easily destroyed. Now, centuries later, Errtu had stumbled upon the trail of the crystal shard again; a crystal tower, Cryshal-Tirith, with a pulsating heart the exact image of Crenshinibon. Errtu knew the magic was close by; the demon could sense the powerful presence of the relic. If only it could have found the thing earlier†¦if only it could have grasped†¦ But then Al Dimeneira had arrived, an angelic being of tremendous power. Al Dimeneira banished Errtu back to the Abyss with a single word. Errtu peered through the swirling smoke and gloom when it heard the sucking footsteps. â€Å"Telshazz?† the demon bellowed. â€Å"Yes, my master,† the smaller demon answered, cowering as it approached the mushroom throne. â€Å"Did he get it?† Errtu roared. â€Å"Does Al Dimeneira have the crystal shard?† Telshazz quivered and whimpered, â€Å"Yes, my lord†¦uh, no, my lord!† Errtu’s evil red eyes narrowed. â€Å"He could not destroy it,† the little demon was quick to explain. â€Å"Crenshinibon burned his hands!† â€Å"Hah!† Errtu snorted. â€Å"Beyond even the power of Al Dimeneira! Where is it, then? Did you bring it, or does it remain in the second crystal tower?† Telshazz whimpered again. It didn’t want to tell its cruel master the truth, but it would not dare to disobey. â€Å"No, master, not in the tower,† the little demon whispered. â€Å"No!† Errtu roared. â€Å"Where is it?† â€Å"Al Dimeneira threw it.† â€Å"Threw it?† â€Å"Across the planes, merciful master!† Telshazz cried. â€Å"With all of his strength!† â€Å"Across the very planes of existence!† Errtu growled. â€Å"I tried to stop him, but†¦Ã¢â‚¬ The horned head shot forward. Telshazz’s words gurgled indecipherably as Errtu’s canine maw tore its throat out. * * * Far removed from the gloom of the Abyss, Crenshinibon came to rest upon the world. Far up in the northern mountains of the Forgotten Realms the crystal shard, the ultimate perversion, settled into the snow of a bowl-shaped dell. And waited. Walt Disney Revenue Breakdown (Figure 4) Weaknesses Some of Disneys weaknesses are based on the seasonal fluctuations. All of Disneys theme parks are open year round but there are extreme fluctuations in park attendance and resort occupancy due to the nature patterns of vacation and weather. The peak times to hit these parks are school holidays, summer, and early winter and spring. Oil and transportation prices are also key factors in their park attendance. (Data Monitor, 6) Future Plans Disneys plan for the future involves developing its television presence in more international segments such as Scandinavia, Portugal, and Japan. In addition, Disney also hopes to extend theme parks with new innovative rides and shopping centers to capitalize on current customers. (Datamonitor) Financial Information Disneys revenues for the year increased 4% from 2004 to just over $31.9 billion. From 2003 to 2004 there was a dramatic increase in revenues at 14%. Net income from sales in 2005 was at $2. 5 billion which was an increase of 8% from 2003s figure of $2. 3 billion. From 2003 to 2004 net income increased a dramatic 85% as well. (Annual Report) Stock Analysis For the 20-year period from 1985 to 2005, an investment in Disney yielded a compound annual return that was more than 300 basis points above SP 500. At the end of 2005 the board of Directors at Disney declared dividends at $0. 27 per share. (www. yahoo.com) This years payment represents a 12. 5% increase over the previous year. (Annual Report) The current price per share is $27. 09 a . 25 decrease from yesterdays close. The current amount of shareholders trading in Walt Disney Company is 11. 7 million people. (www. morningstar. com) (Figure 5) From an analysts opinion, currently most consider Walt Disney Company to be a strong buy, they encouraged the shareholder to buy, or at least encourage them to hold the stock. Only three months ago, however, some suggested this stock was an underperformer in the market. No analyst proposed to sell the stock. ANALYSIS After doing extensive research on both companies, I feel both of these stocks could be beneficial to your portfolio. However, looking at the chart below and analyzing the previous data, it seems that even though Walt Disney Corporation seems to bring in higher revenues and income, what seems to be the problem is that they keep redistributing for further projects in the broadcast and entertainment industry. Dividend payouts are not quite as high as Cedar Fair and it seems the fluctuation in the market is far too inconsistent. Though Cedar Fair has had its ups and downs as far as weather and things of that nature, it seems by looking at the financial data from the annual report, noticing its increasing revenues, and innovative park renovations as well as the high dividend payouts and consistent price per share, this stock would be the better option for your company portfolio. Comparison of Walt Disney and Cedar Fair Stock (Figure 6) I would like to make my formal recommendation to Quam Securities regarding all of this research analysis. For a quick profit, Walnut Street Securities, Inc.suggests your company invest in the publicly traded stock Cedar Fair, L. P. (FUN). I believe this will put Quam securities in the best position for a significant profit over the next few years. Cedar Fair has proven in the past that it is a trust worthy company and many analysts prefer to buy this specific investment. We appreciate your business with Walnut Street Securities, Inc. and hope you will seriously consider the information enclosed in this report. Our goal is to gain and build your trust as well as build you a fortune that you can be confident with.

Erikson’s Timeline Essays Erikson’s Timeline Essay Erikson’s Timeline Essay Harmonizing to Erikson. there are eight phases of life. They are babyhood. early childhood. childhood ( play age ) . childhood ( school age ) . striplings and immature maturity. I merely turned 34 this month and I know psychologically that I am in the maturity part of my life. Over the old ages I have caught myself inquiring inquiries like ; who am I? And how do I suit myself into society? I would state over 10 old ages ago I began the 6th phase of my life. familiarity versus isolation. When I finished high school I thought I found that particular individual until I noticed that we became different people. I wanted more out of person to be able to day of the month and be able to fall in love with the right individual. The relationship between the two phases is complex and many people define themselves through intimate relationships with others ; and other proper sequence of the phases can be reversed in many people. Woman in the society traditionally exemplified a meeting of familiar ity and place issues such as adult female identify being defined by her intimate relationships. Sometimes it can be difficult to divide the differences between the development of intimate relationships and grownup itself. Erikson believes that a individual is unable to be genuinely intimate with others until he or she has made advancement with turn toing their ain individuality. Marcia’s. the research worker for individuality position. developed a similar thought with turn toing their ain individuality. Macias besides developed an thought designed to find the quality of familiarity in a person’s life. A individual answered several inquiries about dating. friendly relationship. and interpersonal he or she committednesss may be classified into four classs ; Intimate-works at developing common personal relationships. has several near friends. involved in a committed love relationship. and is able to show both affectionate and angry feelings in the relationship. I would neer rip off or make anything to ache the individual that I am with. I don’t have any jobs showing my feelings to my spouse. I have a friend who refuses to be in a relationship. I feel that she still has a batch of turning up to make and she enjoys playing with other people’s feelings. These people don’t cognize what love is yet and might non of all time open that page for person else. As for me I know what love is and what it takes to hold a good solid relationship. How to Market a Memoir Top Tips From the Experts

How to Market a Memoir Top Tips From the Experts How to Market a Memoir: Top Tips from the Experts Indie authors can have quite an uphill battle when it comes to marketing a memoir. When we buy a memoir, it’s because we want to know more about a person’s life, or what they have to say about a certain subject. For instance, if you write science fiction, sure, you can target your book to readers who enjoy that genre, but you’ll be competing with a monstrous number of other books. If you write a memoir about leaving your home country of Canada, and spending 15 years working as a gardener for a wealthy family in Spain, well, you’ve got a host of niche groups who might be interested in your real-life accounts: Canadian gardeners, expats living in Spain, Med iterranean people interested in the lifestyles of the wealthy, etc. This article will cover three of the most essential components of marketing a memoir: determining who your readers are, figuring out how to connect with them, and establishing yourself as a reputable and compelling source on the subject matter. To ready you for your hike up the steep hill to memoir sales, we’ve sought advice from several of our top marketers.Determine your target audienceIn our post on how to write a memoir, we asked authors to consider who they are writing their memoir for. This is a necessary question that bears repeating in this article as well. Due to the fact that a memoir is a personal thing, your answer might be, â€Å"For myself, to tell my own story† - and that’s wonderful. But if you would like to successfully market and sell your memoir, you have to think beyond yourself and step into your readers’ shoes. Get personal! (Photo by Joanna Kosinska)When it comes to memoirs, authors with a pre-established platform will find the job of marketing much easier. Greasy Lake - T. Boyle Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Greasy Lake - T. Boyle - Assignment Example I agree with Boyle in that most of the time people have no idea about the reality of what they admire and aspire to be; only when one experiences something can one know the true meaning thereof. In the beginning Boyle romanticizes the â€Å"bad† or â€Å"dangerous† persona that the narrator and his friends aspire to have as their own, or feel is their own. There is a tendency even now, I feel, to make the bad appear good and attractive, whereby young men want to be rebels or bad. Boyle captures this attitude right in the start of his narrative, stating that it was a time â€Å"when it was good to be bad†. The narrator of the story goes on to list quite a few of the â€Å"bad† qualities that his friends have, and which he admires, and which make him think that they are â€Å"two dangerous characters†. Most often such dangerous characters do not have any inkling of what real danger is, and their image is often based on stories they themselves tell, or on feats that are really not â€Å"dangerous† but merely irresponsible. In the story, for example, the two friends of the narrator are â€Å"bad† because not only can they hold their own at a party, but can also roll joints in extremely difficult circumstances. It seems that this is often the truth of life; if you put yourself out to be as someone, more often than not, people will believe you without any evidence, and soon you will start believing it too, that is until you are faced with an event that challenges your claim. When something comes along that actually challenges the claims that you make, it is only then that the truth is known. Only when you are faced with the task of proving yourself to be who you claim to be can you actually prove the same. I completely agree with Boyle on this, because in my opinion very few people turn out to be who they say they are when it comes to putting their claims into action. When they are forced to scatter, with the narrator finding himself in Greasy
